Getting to Know the Bride and Groom

Michelle Wilbur

Bio: I was born in Gendale, California on January 2, 1989. My family and I moved up to Nevada City when I was six months old. I attended Forest Lake Christian School from fourth grade until graduation, where I was valedictorian of my class.  I then attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo the fall of 2007. While I was at Cal Poly I majored in Physics and earned my a B.A. in March 2012.  My plan now is to earn my teaching credential and teach high school science in the next couple of years.

Hobbies: I enjoy outside activities like hiking and going to the beach. I also enjoy the arts, whether it is performing music or drawing, or observing them such as attending a concert or going to an exhibit. I obviously have an interest in science, especially astronomy. I love to learn new things about the universe and how it works. I'm always excited to try something new, I love the many adventures I have with Scott and the memories from them.  Spending time with people I love and care about is one of my favorite activities, I also think it is one the best ways I can spend my time.

Favorite Memory with Scott: It is hard to pick one since I almost always have a wonderful time with Scott. At the moment, my favorite memory is during the summer of 2008 when we started dating. Scott had invited me to spend the day at his family's cabin up near Lake Tahoe. We had fun swimming and walking along a near by river. Scott and I remember this time as when we first realized we loved each other.

Bio: I was born in Walnut Creek, California on November 10, 1987.  I have lived in the Bay Area my entire life.  I attended Acalanes High School and graduated in 2006.  I had trouble deciding where to apply to college, but when I saw the city of San Luis Obispo, my choice was clear.  I started in the fall of 2006 as a computer science major, but figure out pretty quickly that I didn't want to program computers all day.  In the summer of 2007 I changed majors to Electrical Engineering, and in the Spring of 2011 I earned my B.S.  I started work at ETM, located in the south bay, in July of 2011 and am very happy with my job.

Hobbies: I think if I were to ask people about my hobbies, the first thing that would come to their mind would be computers.  I enjoy building, fixing, and playing on computers.  I am very much of a technology oriented person.  I also like the outdoors - hiking, skiing, biking.  I love to take drives on back country roads with the wind blowing in my hair.  I had a lot of fun with a model train set when I was in middle school and would like to find time to work on that again.

Favorite Memory with Michelle: It is hard to pick a favorite out of so many wonderful times we have spent together.  I would have to say one on the top of my list is when I met Michelle in Santa Cruz  after I had graduated.  I had not seen her for a while since she was still in school at Cal Poly. This made the time together that much more special.  We had a wonderful time on the boardwalk, where we got a deep fried Twinky (not as good as it sounds).  Next we went to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center (part of UCSC) and Michelle fell in love with the baby otters.  We also took a drive and saw some of the coast and then walked around in the redwoods.  We finished off with a tasty Italian dinner in Scott's Valley.  It is times like these that make us realize how much we mean to each other.
